John Welch

John Welch

It is with great sadness that we heard the news of the great John Welch's passing at the end of the year. John was a club stalwart for many years having served as President between 1973 and 1975 and as the clubs second longest serving 1st XI captain between 1959 and 1970. As well as being a great captain, John was influential in many developments at the club including the building of the current pavilion.

Tim Taylor sadly passes away.

Tim Taylor WCC member and ex treasurer of the club passed away last month after battling Cancer He was a special man who will be sorely missed by the friends and colleagues.Tim held his friendships with huge importance. Tim played many years for Stow and he was hugely influential and respected cricket man, he also served as 4th XI captain and he was an inspiration to many young players as well his colleagues.

He worked tirelessly for WCC and cricket during his time at the club. His overriding passion was his family, friends and cricket and he delighted in the success of the club and in particular, the younger players who he supported and encouraged.Above all he was one of the true gentleman on and off the field. He will be Sorely missed and we at Stow lost a great member, friend and colleague.

Different if he was a couple of feet out clearly trying to gain an advantage but his bat was on the line! Terrible from West Indies #U19CWC

Nets
New Outdoor Nets

The new outdoor nets are now completed and have been put to use in the last week for the club training nights.

The nets will be available on all organised training sessions for both adults and colts as well as on match days. To use the nets outside of these hours all users MUST be fully paid members and will be required to pay a £10 returnable deposit for the key from behind the bar. More detailed rules will be circulated to all members

This is another achievement by the club in the last year or so to improve the standard of cricket and facilities available for all our members.

A huge thanks must be given to everyone involved for their tireless efforts in getting the grants and to the generosity to London Marathon Fund and Grange Park Trust for their funding.
